Week 1: Joy Day 3
Wed, Dec 27
Invitation – Psalm 98:1-2
Oh sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things! His right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The Lord has made known his salvation; he has revealed his righteousness in the sight of the nations.
Scripture Reading – Colossians 1:15-20
He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
Thank and praise God for revealing himself to you. Read again, slowly this time. Ask the Holy Spirit to direct your prayers through the Word, leading you into a faithful and devoted response.
- Praise God for creating, sustaining, and reconciling all things.
- Take heart that the Church will follow Christ in his resurrection from the dead.
Confessional Prayer – BGC 10
Dear Heavenly Father: Truly it is a wonder and a delight that you have shown us yourself in your only-begotten Son, Jesus. We thank you for his saving work on the cross, his creating work in the beginning and with each new day. All this was to bless us and glorify you. We praise you, God the Father; we praise you, God the Son; we praise you, God the Spirit. Amen.
Blessing – Luke 2:14
Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!
