Week 2: Mission Day 10
Wed, Jan 3
Invitation – Isaiah 60:1
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
Scripture Reading – Mark 1:14-20
Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.” Passing alongside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” And immediately they left their nets and followed him. And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets. And immediately he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed him.
Pause and remind yourself that God is a Father who loves and instructs his children. Ask God what he might be teaching you through his Word. How might God be stirring your heart to respond to him today?
- Find hope that God is building his Kingdom here on earth.
- Petition God for hearts to respond to the call of Jesus and become fishers of men.
Confessional Prayer – BHC 3
Lord, not only have you called the Church to yourself, you have established her to be a blessing and a light to the nations. We thank you for the unparalleled reconciliation that comes through Jesus alone, for without it we would have no hope. By your grace, continue this work in us, your Church, and empower us as we witness to and disciple the nations, all for your glory. Amen.
Blessing – Revelation 7:17
For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.
